Players who try to search for the games via the Microsoft Store on an Xbox One, Series X, and Series S console will see that it’s “not available for purchase.” However, going to the Xbox 360 marketplace via the console or the website will allow the player to not only buy the games but will also appear in their game library. Daytona USA and Jet Set Radio are two examples. However, not every game backward compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S is available on the Xbox One marketplace. This practice lasted until late 2021, with Microsoft citing licensing, legal, and financing constraints as the reason to cease operations. Since early in the Xbox One’s lifespan, several games from the Xbox 360’s library were made available via backward compatibility. If you’re like me you’d be confused with the wording of that statement. Maybe Sega’s big reported announcement next month is they will finally port all the arcade games they never bothered to give us to a new home console called Dreamcast 2? Lololīut in all seriousness if you haven’t played Daytona USA 2, go do it.Available as: Digital (Not for much longer.)Ī few days ago, Microsoft announced that it would remove several games from the Xbox 360 marketplace, including Daytona USA and Jet Set Radio on February 7th, 2023. It has everything that made the original Daytona a hit plus a ton extra awesome graphics, better tracks, a more “arcade” feel to how the cars handled. I can’t imagine Sega didn’t think it would succeed.
It was rumored in magazines back in the day as coming to Dreamcast but in the end we got stiffed by Sega AGAIN!
If Sega felt the original Daytona was deserving of multiple releases on the Saturn and a remake on Dreamcast.why not the sequel? Considering it released in arcades in 1998 a Dreamcast port seemed written in stone. How did something like this never make it to Dreamcast or any other platform like the original Xbox. Dreamcast on the horizon, a glut of amazing arcade seemed like they could do nothing wrong. Sure they had issues with the Saturn but 90’s Sega was the best thing going. Why else would amazing games like Daytona 2 never see a home release? It’s not like the game wasn’t good enough or reviewed poorly!ĭaytona 2, for me, has everything that made SEGA the company to beat in the 90’s. I’m really starting to think that whoever makes the decisions at Sega intentionally enjoys causing their fan base pain lol.
